ALERT
FIRENET NEWS SERVICE (ALERT-FS)
Brief History of ALERT-FS
In the begining:
In 1994 Gold Coast Fire Network News was formed by Bob Sherman and Carol Sherman of south Florida. Gold Coast Fire Net provided coverage of Police, Fire, EMS & Breaking News in Florida and the United States with assistance of dispatchers and other paging groups.
GCFN provided their customers with 24/7 coverage of these type of events, which were sent to alpha numeric pagers.
In September of 2002, Bob Sherman had passed away.
Carol Sherman had notified all of the GCFN staff of the heart breaking news, and we thought that would be the end of Gold Coast Fire Net.
Walter Andres was a GCFN member and a close friend to the Sherman family. He was asked by Carol if he would continue the service of providing there customers with incident notifications. Walter accepted and changed the name over, what is known as now "ALERT FIRENET SERVICE" in September of 2002.
Martin Ertl was a GCFN member as well and was owner of Central Florida Fire Network which was not a very big paging group at the time.
In the end of 2002 not knowing what happened to GCFN and who took it over to continue service, he was able to make contact with Walter. After speaking with Walter they decided to merge the company into ALERT-FS. It was agreed that CFFN would become the ALERT-FS N FL Office. Walter asked for assistance to expand ALERT-FS and he accepted the position of Co-owner of the company.
And now:
It has been 7 years for Alert Firenet News Service and we are currently reforming our company with the newest addition of Long Island, New York and possibly more to come in the future.
